Audi wins Car of the Year Awards

Dec 23, 2009
• Audi wins three awards with Australia’s Best Cars
• R8 V10 wins Motor Magazine’s Performance Car Cup
• Audi also successful in People’s Choice awards
Audi has taken away top honours in this year’s Car of the Year testing, including a triple triumph at Australia’s Best Cars awards. Audi topped three categories in the motoring clubs comprehensive testing program, with the TTS, Q5 and A6 all winning their categories.

Audi was also successful in Motor Magazine’s Performance Car Cup (formerly PCOTY) with the brand new R8 V10.

The R8 V10 came in first place from a field of 13 contenders. Journalists from Motor Magazine tested the cars at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway and Western Sydney International Dragway.

Motoring writer and judge, Nathan Ponchard, said the R8 V10 “is simply superb as a performance road car”.

“The greatest car to ever wear Audi’s four-ringed logo undercuts all its major rivals- in some cases by up to $150,000 - and value needs to be measured in context,” he wrote.

The four-rings also proved to be popular among the people’s choice awards, winning the 2009 Carsguide People’s Choice Best Prestige car award with the Audi A6, as well as winning two categories in the Carsales People’s Choice Awards.

These awards are important as they also measure the reaction of the general public to the product launched by Audi and do not just reflect ‘expert’ opinion, but a broader public appeal.
